I played Dead Cells through my PS Plus subscription, but once it expired and I purchased the game outright, I found that all my saved progress was gone. I’ve been searching but can’t locate any of my previous data. Any ideas on how to recover it or what might have happened?

If you originally played the PS4 version from the PS Plus library and then bought the PS5 version, it’s possible that your save data didn’t transfer over. Unfortunately, PS4 saves don’t always carry over to the PS5 version of some games like Dead Cells. Double-check which version you played by looking at the trophies you’ve earned for each game version.
Sometimes, if you buy a different edition of the game like the GOTY edition, that’s separate from the standard version you played before, your save data might not match up. It’s worth checking if you ended up with a different version or if multiple game data entries show up in your storage settings.
It could be worth giving Sony support a call. They’ve been able to help with these weird data loss situations. It’s frustrating, no doubt, but it might be your best bet to get back on track with your game.
Your save file might have been stored in the PS Plus cloud. Once your subscription ended, you lost access to those cloud saves. If you didn’t back them up locally on your console, that could be why they’re missing now.
