My best friend and I exchanged 100 Pokemon today, but we didn’t get any lucky trades at all. Previously, when we traded similar amounts, we usually ended up with between 5 and 10 lucky Pokemon. Is there a bug causing this, or is it just bad luck? How does the lucky trade chance really work?

From my experience grinding for higher levels, I’ve had whole sessions with zero lucky trades and others with like 10 or more. The odds are roughly 5% per trade, so not getting any lucky Pokemon from 100 trades, while uncommon, definitely isn’t a sign of a bug or any issue.
It’s probably just RNG randomness at play. Lucky trades have roughly a 1 in 20 chance per trade under normal conditions, so getting zero out of 100 is rare but definitely possible. The luck system isn’t broken, it’s just how probability works sometimes.
The lucky trade rates are random by design — if it were predictable, it wouldn’t be luck! So even if you expect a handful of lucky trades, sometimes the chance just doesn’t go your way, and you can end up with none from a big batch.
