It feels really unexpected and disappointing that Bungie decided to launch a major expansion without introducing any new abilities, aspects, or supers. I understand if they’re not adding a new subclass, but typically, those new abilities are what generates excitement for players. For example, while Matterspark is nice, it doesn’t bring the same hype as previous expansions since it’s just another limited ability that won’t be used after the content. With the recent nerfs to prismatic and changes to how some abilities function, I’m feeling less excited about the game. I get that creating content takes time, but it seems like they could’ve at least added a few new aspects to freshen things up. I’m holding onto the hope that more will be revealed later, but right now, I’m a bit worried.

Honestly, I’m not a fan of these destination abilities like Deepsight and now Matterspark. They feel more like gimmicks than actual gameplay enhancements. I miss getting new grenades or melees that can be used more broadly instead of just for specific puzzles. It’s frustrating that they’re focusing on stuff that doesn’t affect our core gameplay when we’ve been asking for variety.
Totally, they seem to be missing the mark. We just want the classic abilities that we can use everywhere!
Honestly, we’re not going to get a new subclass with every expansion anymore. With an expansion every six months, we probably just won’t see new subclass features in every one. Maybe the next one will drop something big.
That makes sense. If they’re switching to a biannual model, they might be saving some of the bigger updates for later.
True, but it’s still disappointing not to have anything fresh in this one!
I think there’s another factor at play. This is the first expansion after the Final Shape saga, and they seem to be prioritizing core mechanics over new flashy abilities. They also need to balance everything out to avoid breaking the game. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see new aspects down the line, but right now, they’re trying to set a solid foundation after all the feedback they’ve received.
That’s a fair point, but if they had teased some new abilities, it could’ve really uplifted the community’s spirit.
I get that they’re making fundamental changes, but it just feels like they’re leaving us hanging on the creativity side.
They’re really digging into the core systems with this expansion and tackling the feedback about leveling and playlists being boring. While it may seem like we’re not getting much, these changes could lay the groundwork for something bigger in the future. Keeping my fingers crossed for exciting stuff down the line!
Totally, there’s a lot going on behind the scenes that we might not see yet. Still, it would be nice to have more new abilities to play around with.
Right? We need new things to keep the gameplay fresh, not just system overhauls!
It’s understandable that people want new abilities, but with all the reworking happening, I think it’s crucial they focus on improving what’s already there. If they throw in too much new stuff without solidifying the base game, it risks creating chaos. It’s a huge balancing act for them right now.
Sure, but it’s like they’re aiming for a Destiny 3 vibe without actually giving us the content we want.
Exactly! They’re overhauling so much, it feels like we’re losing the essence of what made Destiny fun.
Exactly! They’re just temporary features that don’t carry over, so what’s the point? Once you finish the content, those abilities are gone.
