So, I was leveling up my Blood Elf Warlock to get the Ambassador title and noticed I could learn Winterpelt as a language, but I still didn’t have Demonic. After looking into it, I’m curious why Blizzard allowed Demon Hunters to speak Demonic while removing that ability from Warlocks. Shouldn’t both be able to communicate in the language, especially since Warlocks are like demon trainers? Anyone know what the reasoning behind this change might be?

From what I remember, Warlocks never had Demonic as a full language—only in their Metamorphosis form. In that form, they would speak it, but they couldn’t even understand it themselves. It’s a bit of a lore twist, I guess! Plus, there was that Demon Hunter NPC quest where they started shouting in Demonic, but really it was just some comedic dialogue.
I agree! Warlocks should definitely speak Demonic to command their demons. But apparently, they decided that only Demon Hunters could have that ability. It’s a bit wild, considering how much they rely on demon-speaking skills in lore.
Exactly! Makes you wonder if the lore is just not keeping up with the gameplay changes. What gives with that?
Honestly, it seems like only Demon Hunters got the cool language perks. There’s that spell called Curse of Tongues that makes people speak Demonic, but, ironically, it seems like Warlocks just lost out completely on that front.
Right? It’s funny how Demonic is portrayed as difficult, even causing longer casting times. Seems like Warlocks should get some love for their demon-taming skills!
Yeah, a lot of old NPCs spoke languages players couldn’t understand back then. Blizzard changed some of that when they revamped things, so it makes sense why it feels inconsistent now.
