I downloaded Sunset Overdrive years ago on my Xbox One through Games with Gold. It’s a single-player game that should work offline, but now it won’t launch. It says I don’t have the proper license, even though the game is in my library. Is it normal for single-player Games with Gold titles to suddenly become inaccessible? I’m really disappointed because I was looking forward to playing it again.

You’re right about it being a disappointment! Xbox Live Gold has now transformed into Game Pass Core, which means if you drop your subscription, you could lose access to those Games with Gold you thought you owned. Just a heads up, it’s worth checking their support page for the latest updates on this.
So it’s kind of a bummer! For Xbox 360 games, you can still access those anytime since they’re yours forever. But for Xbox One titles, if you want to keep playing, you’ll need to maintain a subscription with Game Pass Core. That’s just how the newer system works now.
Unfortunately, if you’ve redeemed any Xbox One games through Games with Gold, you now need an active Game Pass subscription to play them, even if it’s a single-player title. This applies even if you got the game years ago. It seems like Xbox changed the way these subscriptions work.
Yeah, I came across a similar issue. It’s super frustrating, especially for older games. You’d think that if we owned them once, we could keep playing them!
I didn’t know that! I thought I could keep playing any games I redeemed. Thanks for the clarification!
