Why Can't I Get into Resident Evil 7?

-

Hey everyone, I just started playing Resident Evil 7, and honestly, I’m really not enjoying it. I know it’s loved by many and was a big deal for the series after RE6, which wasn’t great, but I’m finding it pretty tough. I’ve mostly played the RE2, RE3, and RE4 remakes, so I’m more accustomed to that style. The learning curve is steep for me, and it’s frustrating enough that I’m considering just deleting the game. I appreciate the horror aspect, but first-person mechanics are ruining the experience for me. For instance, when Ethan gets stabbed in the hand, there’s no clear indication of what to do—it just feels random. The whole dodging and hiding sequence has me confused too. I really prefer playing the remakes instead.

Your take’s fair! It can be frustrating. Just try to remember that the lack of prompts is part of the design. It forces you to think on your feet, which can be hard when you’re used to those remakes. That said, it’s perfectly fine to take a break or switch games!

Yeah, it’s challenging to switch styles, especially in a franchise that’s evolving!

I feel you! If Mia is already making you think about quitting, trust me, the next boss fight is tougher. Not everyone is cut out for that kind of horror, and that’s more than okay!

ZombieSlayer03 -

Exactly! It’s all about finding what you enjoy. There’s plenty of other games out there.

I totally get where you’re coming from! RE7 definitely has a different vibe. To defend yourself, just hold L1—it’s a lifesaver in those tight spots! Try not to use it unless absolutely necessary, and you’ll find it gets easier with practice. But hey, if it’s just not your style, that’s cool too!

GhostHunter88 -

For real, if it’s stressing you out, don’t force it! Moving on to what you enjoy is a smart choice.

Honestly, RE7 leans more into horror-puzzle territory than action, unlike those remakes you’ve played. If you prefer fast-paced action, it might not be for you. No shame in stepping back if that’s how you feel!
