I’ve sunk thousands of hours into Skyrim and I’m a big fan of Fallout 3 and NV, plus I’ve dabbled in various JRPGs. However, Oblivion just isn’t grabbing me. I’ve played around 10 hours, tackled a few side quests, and focused mostly on my favorite aspect of games—exploration. Unfortunately, every cave and fort I’ve encountered feels pretty repetitive, and the overall color scheme is pretty dull, making me consider finding a reshade. I know it’s unfair to judge an older game solely on graphics, but I really want to push through it. Are there any specific quests you think I should try or any followers that could make my explorations more engaging? Thanks a bunch!

Oblivion’s strengths are definitely where Skyrim falls short. Oblivion has some fantastic quests and missions! Even if the world feels less varied, once you dig into the quests, it really shines. Give the Dark Brotherhood mission a shot; it’s a wild ride!
Honestly, it’s hard to say Oblivion’s dungeons are unique. They really feel like rehashed designs. But if you didn’t play the original, that could be why the remaster isn’t hitting for you as much.
Yeah, the dungeons all share a similar design, which can be a bummer. It is a game from 2006, after all. You have to keep reminding yourself of that. But I find appreciating the nostalgia helps, especially if you loved the original.
You’ve gotta check out the Shivering Isles! It’s probably one of the best-designed worlds ever. The exploration there is just amazing, plus the loot is interesting and the NPCs are wonderfully bizarre. After you conquer that, definitely dive into the Dark Brotherhood questline!
Yeah, it’s tough when you go in expecting something fresh and end up with the same ol’ caves. That’s why nostalgia can be such a powerful factor!
