I’ve been playing as a tank for a while, usually with a group of friends who are either at level 4 or 5 for keys, which has made it easy for me to find groups. However, I decided to try a solo DPS role to see how high I could climb when my friends aren’t around. I ran some +6 and +7 keys to increase my item level to 660 and bumped my Raider.io score up to 2.2k, thinking I was ready to push for higher keys.
Over the last couple of nights, I’ve been trying to queue up for a Workshop +9, but no one is signing up unless they’re at 640 item level. I even reduced it to +8, hoping it would help, but still no luck, as it took over an hour to get a group. Tonight, I switched to a Theater of Pain +8 and faced the same issue. I kept getting excited seeing 640 DPS applicants with notes like “Trust me bro.”
Is my low Raider.io the problem? Are these keys just bad? It feels like Mythic+ is becoming stale already!

At this stage, many players are just grinding those lower levels or jumping into 10s for their vaults. Plus, if you’re trying to get into 10s, you might need to post your group at peak times for higher success rates. Good luck!
I think the +8 and +9 keys have always been like a dead zone for gearing. It’s hard to find groups unless you’re farming a certain item. Honestly, if you’re looking to push your IO, I’d say focus on those +10s instead. You’ll find it’s way easier!
Yeah, I’ll probably go that route. It just feels like a grind!
You’re definitely in a tough spot, as 8s and 9s don’t seem worth it for most players. It could be a good idea to focus on getting into +10s, especially since your gear is solid at 660. Just spam some +7s for IO and you should be good to go!
Sounds like a plan! I just need to push through some +7s for a bit.
Yep, once you start getting into those 10s, you’ll find groups come together much quicker.
It’s tough at this point in the season. Keys +6 are popular because they drop hero gear, and +7s for gilded crests. However, +8s and +9s are becoming less desirable as their rewards don’t justify the difficulty compared to running a +10. You’re more likely to find groups for +10s, so try joining or forming those instead!
That makes sense! It’s not too enticing to do higher keys when you can achieve the same rewards from lower ones.
True, everyone is trying to farm those easy 6s and 7s instead of the riskier 8s and 9s.
Honestly, it’s all about the rewards. Many players will avoid 8s and 9s since they feel like a waste of time. You should definitely consider leading your own keys; that often helps in getting a better group.
Totally! That will allow you to pick your own buffs and make things smoother.
Leading your own keys can make a world of difference! I’ve had success with that approach.
I’ve had a similar experience. Once you start getting up there with your IO, signing up for those higher keys becomes much faster.
