Why Can't Console Players Change the Deadzone Shape in Rocket League?

-

I’ve been wondering why there’s no option for console players to adjust the deadzone shape in Rocket League directly. Right now, only PC players can change it to Circle, Square, or Cross using external tools like BakkesMod. On the other hand, console players like those on PS4, PS5, Xbox, and Switch are stuck with the standard Circle shape, which many top players consider less effective. Players like Zen and RW9, who are some of the best in the game, use the Cross format, which is known to offer better precision. This limitation seems to create an unfair advantage for PC players. If the top players prefer formats other than Circle, why can’t console users at least try them out? Wouldn’t this also benefit PC players who aren’t familiar with changing these settings?

While it might not seem huge to some, it’s clear that the best players prefer the Cross format over Circle for a reason. Console players not being able to even test out different options definitely creates a gap. It’s all about optimizing performance, and unfortunately, consoles just don’t allow the same customization.

Exactly! Even if it’s not rocket science to some, having more options directly in the game makes a big difference. I really hope they consider this in future updates.

The thing is, PC games often have mods and extra settings that consoles just don’t allow due to restrictions. Customizing gameplay on consoles usually requires a workaround like jailbreaking, which is risky since console manufacturers don’t support it.

Yeah, I get that. It’s a bummer that modding is harder on consoles, but it’d just be nice to see them keep up with the flexibility of PC versions for settings like this.

Honestly, it feels like not being able to change the settings is a big deal. The customization options on PC are way better, and it’s frustrating that console players can’t compete on the same level. I think adding more options in the game would help everyone, not just the pros.

ProPlayerFan28 -

Agreed! If the best players are using different formats, it’s logical for console users to at least have the option to experiment. It just levels the playing field.

Actually, there’s a bit of confusion here. The default deadzone shape is actually Circle, so console players only get that option unless they switch to PC and use tools to change it. Most pro players use the Cross shape for its precision, but many others like Joyo stick to Circle for their gameplay style. It’s interesting that some people think Cross is the default; it’s just not the case. To really see the impact, you’d have to dive into the settings on PC, which unfortunately isn’t available for consoles.

Yeah, I read similar things. Being stuck with just Circle for console players definitely feels a bit limiting, especially when pros are using Cross for better control.
