So, I recently ran into quite an issue with my PlayStation account. After getting a temporary suspension for some not-so-chill comments I made during a game (MLB The Show 25), I tried to request a refund for a game that turned out to be a total disaster (MindsEye). I contacted PS support, and initially, they told me I was eligible for the refund. However, just before they processed it, they dropped the bomb that I couldn’t get the refund because of my temporary suspension.
This left me confused because while I couldn’t request a refund, I had just made a purchase on the store without any issues! I asked the support agents why this was the case, but they just referred me to the TOS and said the details were internal without providing any real answers. After digging into the policies myself, I found that they didn’t explicitly state anything about suspensions affecting refund eligibility. It seems really unfair and kind of hypocritical that they can take my money while my account’s suspended but won’t let me get it back. I’m just curious about others’ thoughts on this and if anyone has experienced similar frustrations with PS support or their policies!

Yeah, Sony’s customer service is notoriously tough to navigate. They just seem to want to avoid having to deal with refunds as much as possible. It’s frustrating when the policy feels so one-sided.
Refunds with Sony are a pain in the ass most times, even when you’re technically eligible. It’s not surprising how they handle these requests. Just another reason to stick to physical copies, where you at least have some leverage!
Honestly, I think Sony just doesn’t like giving refunds under any circumstances. I’ve had to deal with them for refunds too, and it’s like pulling teeth! They definitely make it harder than it should be, even for valid requests.
Honestly, you might have been granted some sort of ‘one free pass’ for refunds before the suspension hit. The refund policy feels like a maze, so if they have a technicality to lean on, they will. You’re not alone in feeling this frustration.
