I’ve noticed a lot of chatter about needing to rely on ammo exotics for encounters, and it feels a bit dull and repetitive. I’m curious why there isn’t more discussion about bringing back ammo synths, especially from the old Destiny 1 players. I think having something like a permanent rally flag—maybe with a cooldown that gives players back half their ammo—would really shake things up. If ammo is a big issue right now, then shouldn’t we also consider reducing boss health if we’re not going to see an increase in ammo drops? Remember how in the early days of Destiny 2, yellow bars used to drop heavy ammo frequently? I should point out that this debate is mostly around contest level content.

I get where you’re coming from regarding ammo concerns, but with the artifact’s inclusion of trace rifles, I really doubt people will run out of ammo any time soon. Plus, that aircraft carrier helmet really covers everything you need!
Honestly, no one is really asking for ammo synths because they were pretty bad in Destiny 1. Most players don’t want that back at all! There are already ways to generate ammo, and if players aren’t keen on that, then they might need to rethink their builds.
The ammo issue is more about the overall ammo economy than just exotics. If you bring back ammo synths, you kind of just negate that economy altogether, which isn’t ideal. It’s more important to find a good balance than to rely on retro features that might disrupt gameplay.
To be real, there’s not a lot of content in the game where using ammo exotics is a must. I’ve hardly come across any challenges that really require them, aside from maybe a few events every now and then.
I see what you mean about ammo exotics getting a bit tedious. But honestly, just throwing in ammo synths or another rally flag feels like putting a band-aid on a deeper issue. Instead, it might be better to focus on how ammo spawns overall. If there’s gonna be a change, it should be more about the core mechanics around ammo than adding these staples back.
Right? I haven’t felt the need for them in ages, except maybe for the most challenging day one raids.
