I’ve been a devoted PC gamer for years, and nothing beats the accuracy and comfort of using a keyboard and mouse for me. When the Valve Index was announced, I got really excited about the potential for a new level of gaming fun and bought the VR headset at launch. While the immersion is impressive, I’ve noticed that most games built for VR rely heavily on VR controllers, and honestly, they haven’t given me the gameplay experience I was hoping for.
What I’m really looking for is a game that utilizes a VR headset but is designed to work with traditional inputs like a keyboard and mouse or an Xbox controller, depending on the game’s mechanics. For games like World of Warcraft or Tarkov, I totally want to use a mouse and keyboard, while for something like Elden Ring or Rocket League, a controller feels more fitting. I just can’t picture enjoying those games as much with VR controllers, even if they were customized for it. I prefer the comfort of sitting back in my chair with my keyboard and mouse or Xbox controller.
I believe there’s a fantastic opportunity for developers to create something that merges the immersive experience of VR with the precision of traditional gaming controls. Am I the only one who feels this way? Is there anyone else out there who shares these sentiments?

I’m with you on the keyboard and mouse preference! I think VR still has a long way to go before it can replace the precision of traditional controls. For first-person shooters, the thrill of aiming with a virtual gun is cool, but I can’t shake my dislike for thumbsticks. Personally, I stick with keyboard and mouse for most games. If I had it my way, all games would support traditional controls!
If you haven’t looked into UEVR mods and Vorpx yet, you should definitely give them a try! They let you play a bunch of games with a gamepad while enjoying the VR headset experience. It might be just what you’re looking for!
Thanks, I haven’t checked those out yet but I will!
