I’m new to the forum and diving into Assassins Creed Unity for the first time. I just came off playing Rogue, and I can’t help but feel like Unity’s controls are a significant downgrade. Whenever I enter combat, I try to time my parries when the icon turns yellow, but Arno often just stands there and gets hit instead. It’s been driving me nuts! I can handle sneaking around and taking out enemies one by one, but when I’m supposed to fight, I really wish I could do it effectively. Also, I’m finding that just one hit can knock me out, which feels unfair. I’m not new to gaming—I’ve played games like Until Dawn and Breath of the Wild, so I know how to handle button inputs. Are there specific strategies or tips that could help me with these controls?

Perfect parrying is key in Unity! Timing is crucial; the game actually wants you to only tap parry once when the icon appears. Also, remember you can heal mid-combat if you’re close to going down. Try not to jump into fights with enemies that are higher level than you, as they can take you out with a single hit! Focus on stealth and avoid sticky situations until you level up a bit.
Rogue was more about the power fantasy, so of course, Unity is going to feel different. It’s all about finesse here! When you’re low on health, you might find it tricky to parry properly, but blocking still works. Avoid crowded fights and engage only when it’s favorable—running away can sometimes be the best option if you’re getting overwhelmed. Don’t forget, you can break line of sight to lose your pursuers!
Thanks for the tips! I’ll definitely work on the parrying timing and leveling up before jumping into tougher fights. It’s just so stressful sometimes!
