Why Are Other Players Killing So Much Faster Than Me?

-

I was playing on an exciting server last night where folks were constantly running events and caravans, which kept me gaming way past my bedtime! However, I noticed that I was taking much longer to kill enemies compared to others during these events, like Eviction Notice. I’m at level 150, rocking the Valkyrie gatling laser and using damage-boosting perk cards, but it felt like I had to shoot a super mutant 50 times, while a level 400 player beside me took them down in an instant. I’m wondering if I’m missing something here. Should I change my perk cards beyond Expert and Master Heavy Gunner? Are there specific mutations I should consider? Does weapon damage improve as you level up? What legendary perks could help? I just want to be effective in these events and raids!

If you’re using heavy guns, make sure you’re maximizing your heavy gunner perks and looking at specific weaknesses when attacking. Using weapons like the pepper shaker can also help ramp up your damage, and you might wanna check out those builds people share; they’re immensely helpful! Keep in mind too, your health affects damage if you run a bloodied build; gotta strategize your health levels accordingly!

Thanks for the insight! I was just using whatever looked fun at first, but now I see I need a bit more strategy with my build.

Your perk setup plays a huge role! You typically can’t get the most out of your build until level 300 when you unlock all six Legendary perk slots. Once you hit that point, you can optimize for damage far better. Most players rock Furious weapons with Guerrilla and Gunslinger perk cards for stacking damage. Don’t forget about perks like Bloody Mess and Down Ranger for straight-up damage boosts!

Wow, I didn’t realize there was this much to consider! This helps me plan my build better.

It sounds like a lot of players are using optimized crit builds. If you check out some YouTube channels like Angry Turtle or Glass Gaming, they break down various effective strategies. You might find some great tips there!

I’ll check those channels out for some good pointers, thanks a bunch!

So if I go against bosses, will those crit builds still work or are they mainly for PvE?

ShotgunSavvy -

It’s a lot easier now than before, with many perks working better with a wider range of weapons than they used to. For instance, shotgunner perks can now apply to rifles. So, there are definitely more viable weapons around!

That gives me hope! More options make things more fun.

The issue with heavy weapons like the Valkyrie is the spin-up time. While you’re still trying to get your shots out, players with commandos or other quick-firing weapons have already taken down the enemy. For events, try using something like a .50 cal or LMG; those have better damage per second and no spin-up time. If you like VATS, the plasma caster can also be helpful!

That makes sense! I’ve noticed that long spin-up is a pain. I might try some weapons with faster fire rates.
