I’m really frustrated! I was in a fight with the Watersparkers on Gale, and during the Moonrise battle, he electrified a puddle caused by the water. After a long struggle, the Harpers took a tiny bit of damage, and then out of nowhere, they all turned hostile toward me! Now I have to redo 40 minutes of gameplay because my last save was ages ago. Is there a way to prevent this? It feels lame to avoid using Watersparkers just because of some weird game mechanics!

I totally get your frustration; that mechanic is really annoying. I’ve never liked using Watersparkers in big battles because it often ends up hurting more of my team than the enemy. As for a workaround, you can have your spellcaster cast Create/Destroy Water on that electrified area towards the end of the fight. That should eliminate the electricity! Otherwise, just keep Gale away from water surfaces during big fights, even though it’s a hassle to manage that.
You might want to report this as a bug if you can get a screenshot. It’s supposed to be fixed in Patch 8, where neutral or friendly NPCs shouldn’t turn hostile from surfaces created during combat, like electrified ones. It’s definitely frustrating when mechanics like that still mess things up!
Totally, and just to clarify, the key point is that it was supposed to be “outside of combat” when they don’t get aggroed, but OP’s issue happened during a fight.
