I’ve been really frustrated with the Survive the Horde game mode. It takes way too long, the map design is frustrating, and the difficulty spikes hard at the last wave with tons of bosses. It feels like it might not have been properly playtested. On top of all that, the new heroes are locked behind this mode, which is pretty annoying because I just want to unlock those heroes without dealing with all this. Does anyone else feel this way or have tips to make it less painful?

Honestly, the mode isn’t for everyone and that’s okay. Some folks breeze through it solo if they’re geared up, but most people need a decent team. The long duration does turn people off, especially since the community can be hit or miss when it comes to skill level. Locking heroes behind this mode is rough because not everyone has hours to grind or the right teammates. It’d be nice if the reward system was a little more forgiving or had alternative ways to earn them.
Survive the Horde is essentially a tower defense mode with a harder difficulty curve. It’s designed to be a fun challenge, but the long waves and boss spam can definitely be overwhelming, especially if people keep quitting or don’t know how to build properly. Also, some players just don’t want to grind the same mode over and over, so it creates a frustrating experience if that’s your only way to unlock new heroes.
If you’re finding the mode too long or frustrating, try to coordinate with friends or find a steady group. Having everyone on the same page with trap builds and roles makes a huge difference. Also, use heroes like Subzero Zenith that help control smashers and slowing enemies — that was a game changer in our runs. It’s tough but doable, and once you get the hang of it, it can actually be rewarding.
I hear you, Survive the Horde can be a slog especially if your team isn’t coordinated. But when you get a good squad going, it can actually be pretty fun. The last waves are brutal with all the bomb husks and smashers, but solid traps and working together help a lot. I suggest focusing on building strong tunnels and using defenders wisely. Also crafting in-game guns really changes the game for the final waves — that surprised me too!
Definitely seems like teamwork is key. It’s just hard to get a full lobby that sticks around until the end sometimes.
Yeah, I’m not against the challenge but making it mandatory for the heroes is what feels unfair.
