Hey everyone, I’m really struggling with my “Teach Hobby Class” setup in the game. I’ve been working on the Master Mentor aspiration while trying to run a business focused on hobbies, but every time I start a class, it fails—despite having a full shop! I’ve checked my business settings, ensured that classes are open for attendance, and have all the necessary supplies, but no one seems to join. I even cleared the shop for just the whiteboard and teaching tools, and set up a new building specifically for classes. After running about 20 classes in one hour, they all failed! I’ve tried different combinations like various class types that don’t require equipment, but still, my customers just hang out and ignore my sim. I’m getting really frustrated here! Any thoughts on what I’m missing?

I am not sure if you have resolved your issue but I was having the same issue which was crazy to me because they were working fine the last time I played so I spend hours googling and looking for answers and tried thinking of what I changed in the game since the last time it worked. I had switched the foot rack setting to slippers inside the house at one point. Once I changed it back to Allow Shoes it worked. I know it seems crazy but it worked for me and wanted to share in case it may be the issue for someone else!
It sounds like you might be overlooking the blue outline on the floor where the whiteboard is placed. Class activities only count if all necessary items are within that outline. I learned that the hard way with my own classroom setup! Make sure there’s enough space and that all required equipment is placed correctly. You mentioned doing painting classes, so try adding seating to see if it helps!
I’ve run classes with success even in tighter spaces. Make sure your room is marked properly (pink/purple designation), and double-check that all doors are accessible. If you’re still having issues, try clearing the room and moving it, then resetting it. Sometimes, just changing the room around can help reset any glitches. You could also test your setup in a new save to see if a specific class type is the issue.
Thank you, I’ll check the room designation and object placement today!
Have you tried starting a private class instead of a standard one? You can select which sims to invite that way, and it might help get some engagement!
I had no idea I could do that! I thought I could only start the regular classes. I’ll try it next time!
Thanks for the tip! I have my easels inside the outline but no seating yet. I’ll definitely add some chairs and see if that fixes it!
