Hey everyone! I’m new to this PC gaming thing and I’m facing a frustrating issue. I recently picked up an RX 7800 XT, just like my brother, but he seems to get much better FPS in games than I do, specifically in SCP 5k. He averages around 100 FPS while I’m stuck between 50 and 80 FPS, usually around 65 FPS if we’re being realistic. I want to understand why this is happening. Here are my specs:
– Gigabyte GA-A320M-S2H motherboard
– RX 7800 XT
– Ryzen 7 1700x
– 32GB RAM (16GBx2 at 3600MHz)
– Corsair CX750 PSU
I’ve checked my performance in Task Manager, and everything seems fine. I updated my BIOS and even tried overclocking my CPU to see if that helped, but no luck. Any insights would be super helpful!

Hey! Have you checked out your brother’s CPU specs? It sounds like your older Ryzen 7 1700x might be bottlenecking your performance. If his CPU is newer and faster, that could explain the difference in FPS. Just a thought!
It’s hard to pinpoint without knowing your brother’s full specs, but I’d bet on that older CPU being the culprit. If it’s significantly slower than what he’s using, that could definitely be holding you back.
That’s what I was thinking as well! I’ll contact him and get his specs to compare.
Yeah, I was starting to think that too. I’ll find out what CPU he has and maybe that’ll shed some light on the situation.
