Hey everyone! Yesterday I was playing Horizon Forbidden West and my PS5 just froze out of the blue. I had to force it off and when I turned it back on, it booted into safe mode. The only option I can select is option 8, which is to reinstall the system software. All the other options are greyed out! I’m really worried that if I go through with this, it will delete all my data and games. Can someone clarify if that means I’ll have to repurchase my digital games, or will they still be linked to my account? Also, what about my saved game data? Will I be able to recover that if I log back into my account?

Regarding your expansion drive like the WD_Black, it’s a good idea to remove it before resetting your PS5. This could help prevent any data loss on that drive. Just keep in mind that if your saves aren’t backed up, you might still be in trouble.
Don’t worry too much! Your digital games are linked to your account, so you won’t have to repurchase them. However, your saved data will be at risk unless you have PlayStation Plus and had cloud saves set up. If you didn’t, you might lose those saves when you reinstall the software.
