I’m 26 and I’ve spent most of my life playing 3D platformers, survival games, and extraction shooters, but recently I just can’t seem to enjoy video games like I used to. I’ve got a whole library of great titles—games like Metro Exodus, Borderlands series, Fallout games, Stalker, RDR2, Doom Eternal, and Hollow Knight—but I often get bored after just an hour or don’t even bother to start them. Is anyone else experiencing this? How do you manage to stay interested or have fun with gaming again?

It could also just be burnout. Sometimes hobbies change over time, and that’s normal! Giving yourself a break can be really refreshing. Maybe explore other interests for a while, and see if you feel the urge to game again later.
I’ve had those times too, where gaming just felt like another chore. I call it ‘gamer’s depression.’ Taking breaks, exploring different games, and even revisiting old favorites helped me rekindle my love for gaming. Also, smaller, less time-consuming games can feel less overwhelming!
Definitely. Shorter games can be a good fix when you just need something light and fun.
It sounds like you’re dealing with more than just gaming fatigue. Sometimes stress from work or life events can really affect how we feel about our hobbies. I find that single-player games require deep engagement, and when life gets hectic, it’s hard to commit to them, especially when they keep getting longer and more complex over time. Maybe stepping back and taking a break could help you find joy in them again!
Totally agree! I’ve been in that spot before, and just taking a break made me appreciate gaming more when I returned.
For me, it helped to switch things up. Instead of grinding through heavy story games, I tried a variety of other entertainment—movies, books, and even some quick indie games. Mixing it up really kept things fun and varied for me!
Good idea! I might try that. Always thought I had to stick to gaming.
You might also just be experiencing a natural shift in your interests. It’s okay to step back and explore other hobbies or revisit games that once excited you. The right game might just pop up and reignite that passion!
Yeah, I’ve considered that. Just unsure if my gaming days are over.
