I was finishing up my day at Radowan’s forge and decided to take a chill stroll to Troskowitz, which has the best inn around. As soon as I entered the town, a guard stopped me and arrested me for murder! I tried to explain who I was, but there was no convincing him. The issue is, I haven’t killed anyone who didn’t attack me first! I only defended myself against some bandits in the forest between Troskowitz and Nebakov. Now I had to rely on my magical powers to backtrack using savior schnapps because I refuse to serve time for a crime I didn’t commit! What gives? Is there some game mechanic I’m missing that causes this to happen?

Did you happen to kill a bandit who surrendered? That can get you in trouble if someone witnesses it; that’s what happened to me before.
This happened to me after I saved a villager from bandits. The villager flipped the script and reported me for ‘murdering’ the bandits I just defended them from. It’s frustrating when that kind of thing goes down!
Maybe there was a dead body around from the bandits, and someone saw you too close to it? They might blame the whole murder thing on you, you know?
You might have inadvertently killed someone while the bandits were attacking, and one of them escaped to report you. That’s usually how these situations go down.
Sounds like a throwback to TES 2: Daggerfall when guards would arrest you on some random conspiracy charges if your reputation dipped too low. I can’t say for sure what’s up in KCD2, though!
Nope, it was more like the last bandit ran off to tell the guards, and they believed his story. I even had a run-in where I took down two bandits near Božena’s house—one got away, and I ended up being wanted for murder in Zelehov!
