I’ve got an RTX 4070, an Intel Core i7-13700F, and 32GB of RAM, yet my FPS in Fortnite is all over the place. I’m seeing drastic drops even in the lobby, going down to 60 FPS at times. What could be causing this problem, and how can I fix it?

It’s tough to diagnose without more info, but I suggest starting with a few checks. Have you looked at your CPU, GPU, and memory usage in Task Manager? Also, be sure your display cable is connected to the GPU and not the motherboard. Make sure your GPU drivers are up to date—try using GeForce Experience if you haven’t already. In-game settings can matter too; double-check that your GPU’s being utilized correctly. Also, it might help to tweak your graphics settings—try lowering resolution or quality, and consider turning off V-Sync. If nothing works, sometimes a simple restart can do wonders! Let me know if you’re still struggling!
Fortnite has been known to have issues with shader cache, which can lead to stuttering. It usually improves as you play, but keep in mind that any time the game or drivers update, it’ll reset the cache and can cause issues again. If it’s any consolation, you’re not alone in this problem!
But would that also affect FPS in the lobby? I just had it dip to 26 FPS for a moment!
Does this happen even if I’m on performance mode?
Have you checked the temperatures of your components? Sometimes overheating can throttle performance, even if it seems okay. Keeping an eye on temperatures is crucial for performance.
My display is definitely plugged into the GPU, both my drivers are updated, and I’ve adjusted the graphics settings a lot. It feels like my PC just isn’t handling things as it should—when I set the settings to low, my FPS actually dropped even further than on regular settings. Performance mode is set to ultimate, so I doubt it’s throttling.
