Hey everyone! I just came back to Guild Wars 2 after a little break and I’m out of the loop on the latest balance changes. I’m really curious which class is currently dominating the solo open world scene. I’m particularly interested in who can solo champs and handle fractals effectively. I’ve heard a lot about Untamed having crazy strength, but I’d love to hear everyone’s perspectives here!

I’ve been finding success with Mechanist and Staff Mirage for open world content. They both deal well with champs and legendaries. If you’re looking for something a bit more fun and involved, try out Mirage with a staff—it’s still viable!
If you’re into mech, the celestial version is super strong too. Easy mode for solo play!
Untamed is definitely the go-to for soloing. The sustain it offers is unmatched, and you don’t even have to focus on optimizing your build too much. You can mix and match trait lines with Skirmishing and Untamed, and it still performs like a champ! Just check out this video of someone hitting 30k DPS soloing a champion! It’s so flexible that you can even throw on healer stats and still crush it with decent damage.
I still favor the celestial condi druid for certain legendary bounties. Sometimes I switch from Untamed to druid based on the affixes.
Totally get wanting to play a pet ranger! Untamed with a longbow plus a pet is super fun without being overly complex.
While a lot of folks are raving about Lord Hizen, I’ve had much better luck with Syrma Gaming’s builds. They really give detailed explanations and focus a lot on solo builds. Plus, they’re a bit more active! But in terms of classes, it really feels like every class has a solid solo build these days.
I meant to ask which class you meant! Thanks for clarifying, I’ll check Syrma out.
Glad you mentioned that! I always felt like Hizen’s focus shifted a bit.
Nice to hear! I was wondering if staff Mirage was still a thing. Might just dust it off for some fun.
