Hey everyone! I’m curious if any of you have figured out a build that utilizes food poisoning. I’m nearing the end of my first playthrough and I have to say, this game is incredible! It’s not often that a title draws me in like this. After I finish, I’m planning to dive into the Path of Exile series on my Steam Deck—any thoughts on whether that’s a good idea or not? Keep enjoying the game, fellow Envoys!

In my second playthrough on hard mode, I’m using an arcane scholar build that makes me immune to food poisoning. I can chomp on that dwarven food that heals me tons but normally causes serious food poisoning. It doesn’t affect me at all! I also wear a ring that dramatically boosts my damage while reducing my health, so it’s a bit like playing a glass cannon. It’s been quite the challenge, but I’m having a blast exploring instead of just rushing through the campaign!
Could someone explain how food poisoning actually benefits you in the game? What’s with those spoiled veggies?
I think the ‘spoiled’ or ‘rotten’ foods are mainly for cooking recipes at your camp. Besides that, I’m a bit lost on their use!
Spoiled fruit can be turned into drinks, but I’m not sure how else it’s useful.
I played Path of Exile before and didn’t enjoy it much, but I grabbed it on sale and am about 10 hours in now! It’s a bit of a ride, haha!
Definitely steer clear of the backer NPCs. Their gold names can be misleading—they don’t contribute to the story and can ruin the experience!
As far as I know, food poisoning acts just like regular poison buildup. If you hit the 100% mark, you get the poison status just as you would normally.
Exactly! You can drink Grog to counter it, which is really handy.
I had no idea it just triggered the poison effect!
I’d love to try that ring! Sounds like it would make me even more of a glass cannon!
