I’m looking to buy an Xbox for my birthday and I’m torn between the Series X and Series S. I mainly play Fortnite and Minecraft, and I’m not super skilled, but I want to upgrade from my current Xbox One which runs at 60 frames on a 75Hz monitor. I’ve just bought a 180Hz monitor, though I know both next-gen Xbox consoles can only hit 120 frames. Some friends say the Series X performs better, while others argue the Series S is a better deal. Any recommendations would really help!

I feel like you should always choose the more powerful model. It’s an investment that’ll keep you gaming longer before needing any upgrades.
Every time, I’d say go with the Series X! It’s just the more powerful option and will be better for future games, even if you don’t have a 4K monitor right now.
Honestly, you don’t need the Series X just for Fortnite and Minecraft. The Series S can handle those games just fine, especially if you’re not aiming for top-tier performance.
True, but I want something that can compete above 60 frames!
If you’re thinking about it long term, I’d go for the Series X. It’s stronger and you’ll probably be less likely to need an upgrade soon. Plus, you never know what new games might come out that you’ll want to play!
Which games are actually better on the X?
It’s really about what you need. If all you’re looking for is better framerates than your current setup, the Series S is the better value. But if you think you’ll want to play more intense games later, consider the Series X since it runs better on newer titles. Plus, games that are on past consoles generally run at 60 fps on it, which is a plus!
What if I don’t have a 4K monitor?
