I’m currently juggling college and gaming, which makes it tough to find time to play. I’m curious about which version of World of Warcraft is less of a time sink. I know leveling in Retail is much faster than in Classic, but how does the end-game content compare? Specifically, I’m interested in Mythic dungeons in Retail. Would I be able to keep up without spending too much time?

Oh, for sure, Retail wins this one. End-game in Classic feels more like a grind where you’re mostly prepping for content rather than actively enjoying it. You’d be spending a lot more time just getting ready for the actual fun parts.
Retail is definitely less time-consuming. Leveling can be done pretty swiftly, and getting geared for Mythic dungeons doesn’t take ages either. Sure, you might not hit the highest keys right away, but there’s plenty of room for progress even if you’re on a tight schedule. If you’re pugging, going as a tank or healer can really speed things up!
Classic does hit hard on time investment, especially with leveling and travel. It might seem great at first but later on, you could find yourself logging in just once a week to speed-clear stuff instead of truly enjoying the game. It feels way more time-heavy in the long run.
Retail, no question! Classic feels like it’s set up to deliberately eat your time. You invest hours just to tackle things that shouldn’t take that long. Retail at least respects your time—well, mostly!
That’s true! It definitely feels like Classic can trap you into long sessions of just gear farming or traveling.
