I’ve been searching high and low for a vacuum tube spear and can’t seem to find one. I know that the vacuum tube set (including the sword and axe) shows up in mission alerts, but are there certain weapons that are excluded? Should I just go ahead and flux the spear, or is it worth waiting a bit longer?

In general, most of the vacuum tube schematics are part of the mission alert rewards except a few like the Compression Burster, Hydra, and maybe the Xenon Bow. It used to be a longer list, with some weapons previously available through vouchers or llamas.
The mission alert pool typically includes base game weapons, vacuum tube weapons (except the bow), neon weapons (minus the bow), hydraulic weapons (again, except the bow and Hydra), and scavenger weapons (with the bow excluded). So, there are quite a few options!
