I just got my first PlayStation, and I’m excited to dive into the world of games I’ve never explored before. I’m curious about Souls-like games but have no experience with them. Between Bloodborne or Elden Ring, which would be the best starting point for someone who is new to this genre? I’d love to hear thoughts from seasoned players. Thanks!

If you want the classic experience, try Dark Souls 1. It’s a slower game with more manageable enemies early on. It really sets the stage for what the Souls series is about, but be prepared to get frustrated in some spots!
I’d say go for Elden Ring. It’s got an open world vibe where you can explore and find ways to level up if you hit a tough spot. You won’t get too stuck, and it has enough to keep you entertained while still giving that Souls-like challenge.
Totally agree! The freedom to explore really helps you learn the mechanics without feeling overwhelmed.
I’d recommend starting with Demon’s Souls or Dark Souls 1—those are more straightforward compared to Bloodborne or Elden Ring, which throw a lot at you right away. Plus, they help build up your skills for tackling harder challenges later on!
For sure! It’s like laying the groundwork before jumping into the deep end.
Elden Ring is a solid choice, especially because it’s more beginner-friendly than others in the series. Plus, it guides you on where to go, which is a relief for new players. Bloodborne is fantastic too, but it might be a bit overwhelming right out of the gate.
If you’re looking for something light-hearted, try Another Crab’s Treasure! It’s a beginner-friendly Souls-like and got me hooked on the genre. Otherwise, Elden Ring is super fun and should be fine for new players as well!
I’ve heard good things about Another Crab’s Treasure! It’s nice to have a less intense starting point.
Dark Souls 1 is great! Just remember, even though it can be rage-inducing, it’s all about learning from each death.
