If you had the power to remove just one game from any beloved video game franchise, which one would it be and why? Share which game you think hurt the series the most or just didn’t fit in, whether it’s due to story, gameplay, or overall fan reception.

For me, it’s gotta be Mass Effect Andromeda. Fans were really hoping for a solid continuation with ME4, but Andromeda just didn’t land for a lot of people. It lacked the character depth and polish that made the earlier games special, so I’d rather just skip it and jump ahead to a better sequel.
I think Halo Infinite deserves to be wiped from the franchise. After 4 and 5, which were flawed but still tried to deliver, Infinite just felt unfinished and disappointing, especially with the lackluster story and a half-baked free-to-play multiplayer that leaned too hard on battle passes and grindy unlocks.
Honestly, I’d say Assassin’s Creed III. It felt like a major shift away from the story the franchise had carefully built up, and after that, the narrative seemed less meaningful. The whole AI god subplot made no sense and didn’t really impact anything, which was disappointing.
Totally agree! It felt like the story lost its heart after that game.
Dark Souls 2 is my pick even though I put hundreds of hours into it. It never quite felt like it belonged alongside the rest of the series, and the fast boss runs really turned off the experience for me. I’d rather have a different follow-up that keeps the spirit alive.
I get that. DS2 divides fans quite a bit, but I still think it has its merits if you give it a chance.
Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts is the one I’d remove. It changed so much about what made the original Banjo games great and just didn’t fit with the tone or style. It’s like they tried to make a completely different game and slapped Banjo’s name on it.
Yeah, Andromeda felt like it missed the mark big time. Would love to see a proper follow-up that respects the characters we care about.
