I’m trying to introduce my husband to the Sims series, but I’m torn about which game to start him on! He’s completely new to this type of game and while I’m tempted to have him start with Sims 3 since it’s my personal favorite, I wonder if Sims 1 or 2 might provide a better introduction. What do you all think?

Three is always the answer!
Honestly, why not just skip to Sims 4? It’s super beginner-friendly and easy to pick up, plus it has great building tools if he enjoys that.
Honestly, just let him give Sims 4 a shot and see if he likes it. No need to overthink it!
What does he enjoy in other games? If he likes challenges, Sims 1 is the way to go. For creative gameplay, try Sims 2. If he likes to explore freely, Sims 3 is perfect.
He’s into story-driven gameplay, so I’m leaning towards 2 more now. Thanks for the suggestions!
The storylines in Sims 2 are so rich! I’d definitely suggest starting there. It’s nostalgic and a great introduction to the series’ lore.
This is what I’m thinking now! I might have him start with one of the premade families to help him get immersed. Appreciate the advice!
Sims 4 isn’t everyone’s fave, but it’s a solid starting point. It’s easy to manage, and if he has any interest in building, it’s definitely worth considering. Then there’s Sims 1, which, while a bit tougher, has its charm – especially Magic Town! But Sims 2 really strikes a nice balance overall with its mix of realism and fun. Plus, the cutscenes are memorable! Despite my limited experience with Sims 3, I felt it was a bit underpopulated for the open world concept.
If he’s around the right age, Sims 2 is such a nostalgic experience! It’s got that charm that might really resonate with him from childhood.
I’m not really into Sims 4 myself. I just can’t get hooked like I do with 2 or 3. But if he’s into building, maybe that’s the way to go.
