Hey everyone! I’m stuck deciding between getting Persona 4 Golden or Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster. I’ve recently finished Persona 5 Royal and absolutely loved it, so now I’m looking for my next JRPG fix. I’m particularly interested in what both games offer in terms of combat, story, cast, world-building, and overall setting. Since I’ve never played a Final Fantasy game before, FFX would be my first. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I think FFX is an awesome choice for a first Final Fantasy game! It’s got a fantastic story that really stands out, and it’s aged really well. While I get that P4G is great, jumping from Persona 5 Royal to another Persona game might lead to some burnout. FFX is different enough to give you a fresh experience!
Honestly, I adore both games, but if you’re transitioning from P5R, I’d lean towards FFX. FFX is highly regarded and has some of the best aspects of classic JRPGs. Plus, considering the mechanics of P4 and FFX, you’ll likely appreciate how unique each game feels. Give FFX a shot!
Couldn’t agree more! While P4G is phenomenal in its own right, playing FFX first would be a great choice. Just keep in mind that both games are masterpieces in their own ways.
Definitely consider taking a break from Persona with FFX. It’s turn-based combat is a change of pace from P5R’s system, and the story is captivating. Plus, FFX’s world, Spira, allows for interesting exploration. If you enjoy different gameplay and world-building, you’ll love FFX!
Right? I think it’s a smart move. After two Persona games in a row, FFX can act as a palate cleanser. They both have their strengths, but starting with FFX would be a refreshing switch!
I totally relate! I went back to FFX not too long ago, and I’ve found some parts infuriating, especially the chocobo mini-games! But overall, it’s a great entry point into the FF series.
