Hey everyone! I mostly play solo, and last season I managed to kill Zekvir, which was a nice achievement for me. This season, I’m aiming to take down Underpin, but while I have a good grasp of my healer, tank, and melee classes, I’m pretty new to ranged DPS. I’m wondering which ranged damage-dealing spec feels the most engaging and well-designed this patch. I know fun can be subjective, but surely the community can agree on some standout options. For context, the other specs I’ve been playing are Vengeance Demon Hunter, Mistweaver Monk, and Outlaw Rogue.

Balance Druid has been a lot of fun in Mythic+ for me! BM Hunter is the go-to for a reliable ranged experience, but I’ve had good times with Demo Lock as well. I haven’t tried Mage yet this season, but I’ve heard mixed reviews from friends.
I really enjoy Warlocks since we have three distinct specs that play quite differently, so I’m sure you’ll find one that fits your style!
For solo play, Beast Mastery Hunter is hard to beat! The synergy with pets is great, and the spec feels solid right now. Just a heads-up, though, your pets won’t be able to tank Underpin for you, so you’ll have to watch out there! I’m also a fan of Demo Warlock, which brings some of the same perks as BM but is a bit slower on mobility and rotation. Just a fair warning, pets in this spec won’t tank Underpin any better than the hunters’ pets. However, if you’re not into pets, Frost Mage could be a blast! You get to deal significant damage without the RNG hassles of Fire and less repetition than Arcane.
Yeah, but pets get wrecked by Underpin. I found killing it as MM Hunter was way easier!
Does BM Hunter get more exciting at max level? I found leveling one kind of boring, but maybe I should give it another shot. I usually play melee, but I found Warlocks and Mages to be enjoyable.
If you’re a solo player with Zekvir as your goal, I assume you’re not diving into hardcore content? If that’s the case, a bursty spec might suit you best. Look for good mobility and passive defenses, which makes Mages, Hunters, and Elementals stand out. I’d recommend trying Mage if you want a magic-casting ranged experience or Hunter for a more straightforward approach. Elemental Shaman can be a lot of fun, too, but it’s a one-spec deal.
I’ve been having a lot of fun with Marksmanship Hunter! The AOE burst is so satisfying, especially when everything comes together during a fight.
Yeah, I love that feeling too! Nothing compares to letting loose with that AOE!
Honestly, MMO is super fun this season! Detonating Explosive Shots with Aimed Shots makes everything hilarious. Demo Warlock is nice to learn as well.
For me, Arcane Mage is the most enjoyable, closely followed by Devastation Evoker. Elemental Shaman has some nice visuals, but it doesn’t quite fit my playstyle. I just love those big burst moments with Arcane!
You’re all about that big damage, huh? Love it!
Elemental Shaman is the only ranged class that consistently makes me laugh with joy when I use my abilities. It’s also pretty straightforward, which is nice!
Since you seem to enjoy the darker themes, have you tried Shadow Priest? It has depth and can be really satisfying. However, if you’re looking for something more high-action, Elemental Shaman or Fire Mage can be great choices. Balance Druid is also worth a shot if you want something a bit different!
BM really relies heavily on pets, though, and if they grab aggro, that’s a quick death. Not thrilling!
