I’m in the market for a PlayStation 3 and I want to make sure I pick the best model. I’m particularly interested in which one runs PS1 and PS2 games the best, as well as which has the best emulation quality. Also, I want to know which model is the easiest to crack for homebrew options.

If you want the best compatibility with PS1 and PS2 games, go for the launch PS3 models. The CECHAxx and CECHBxx models have the Emotion Engine, which means they can play those older games natively. The later models like CECHCxx and CECHDxx only offer partial support, so you might be disappointed. If you can find one of those original models, grab it!
