Hey everyone! My brother is looking to buy me a prebuilt PC, and we found two options on Facebook Marketplace that are priced similarly (around €1100). Both sellers are okay with us testing the PCs before buying, which is reassuring.
Here are the specs for each build:
**Build 1 – AMD Ryzen:**
– CPU: Ryzen 7 7700
– GPU: RX 7800XT (16GB)
– RAM: 32GB DDR5 6400MHz
– PSU: 850W Gold+ (brand unknown)
– Motherboard: MSI B650M Gaming Plus WiFi
– Extras: Comes with a mechanical keyboard and mouse
**Build 2 – Intel/NVIDIA:**
– CPU: Intel Core i7-13700K (16 cores, up to 5.4GHz)
– GPU: Gigabyte RTX 3090 (24GB)
– RAM: 32GB DDR5 5000MHz
– Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus Elite B760M
– PSU & Cooler: Not confirmed yet
**Usage:** I plan to game at 1440p, do some light video editing, and I want something that’s future-proof and easy to upgrade, especially the CPU and GPU. While I know the Intel i7 + RTX 3090 combo has better raw performance, I’m curious which build would be better for long-term use. Any advice would be appreciated!

I think the Ryzen setup is your best bet for long-term upgrades. Plus, you’ll save about €40 in power costs if you game a few hours each day. But keep in mind, the Intel chip is more efficient at idle, which could matter in the long run.
Honestly, I would suggest looking at new prebuilts instead. You could also consider buying parts from one retailer and paying in installments. Buying used can be risky without any warranty, so keep that in mind!
I’d recommend going with the AMD Ryzen build. It has a better upgrade path for the future and is generally more efficient when it comes to power consumption if you game frequently. The Ryzen ecosystem tends to offer more flexibility for updates and upgrades down the line.
It really depends on what you mean by future-proof. Both systems will limit you to just two NVMe slots, which could become an issue in the coming years. That said, the AM5 platform offers better potential for upgrades compared to Intel right now.
True, but the Intel can drop to 1-2W in idle mode with just a BIOS tweak, while the Ryzen build often idles higher at around 15W. Also, the RX 7800XT uses more power during idle depending on your setup. Just something to consider!
