Hey everyone! I’m currently halfway through Octopath Traveler 2 and playing a couple of other games like Bioshock on Switch and SteamWorld Dig on Vita. I’m hoping to finish them all before the new games South of Midnight and Expedition 33 come out in April. After I complete those, I want to dive into the Persona series. I have easy access to Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable since I’ve hacked my Vita. As a newcomer to the franchise, which one would be the best to start with?

I’d recommend starting with Persona 4 Golden! It has a fantastic story and a great cast that you’ll really connect with. Plus, the gameplay feels a bit more modern and the quality of life improvements in Golden make it an enjoyable experience. It’s also shorter than some other entries, so it’s perfect for getting into the series without feeling overwhelmed.
If you’re interested in a deeper theme, Persona 3 is a solid choice. It’s got some heavy stuff going on with the story, but the gameplay is a bit dated now. The social aspects aren’t as strong as in P4 or P5, though. If you like a darker vibe, give it a try! But if you want something lighter and more character-focused, just go with Persona 4.
Honestly, Persona 3 Reload, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal are all great starting points! They each bring something unique to the table. But if you have access to P4G, that’s the one I’d say is the best entry point for new players.
I totally agree! P4G’s narrative is super engaging, and the characters are well-developed. You’ll really get to know the team!
