While everyone tends to hunt for the most highly-rated games, I often find myself drawn to those that have a mix of strengths and flaws. Some of my fondest gaming experiences have been with titles that aren’t held in such high regard, but offer something unique or simply fun to play. So I’d love to hear about the games you enjoy recommending that might not meet ‘perfection’ but have left an impression on you. I’m particularly curious about Crime Boss: Rockay City because it’s being sold at a great price currently.
As a guide, my list includes:
– Just Cause 3
– Rage 2
– Bulletstorm
– Battlefield 2042
– Sunset Overdrive
– The Outer Worlds (Obsidian RPG, not Indie)
– Dying Light 2
– Destroy All Humans (2020)
– Saints Row 4
Thanks in advance for your suggestions. I’m excited to see what everyone comes up with and why you think those games stand out despite their imperfections!

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is a game that never fails to entertain me, even though I haven’t beaten it. It’s a great blend of RPG action with a fluid combat system and a huge world to explore. Perfect for those who love getting lost in a compelling fantasy setting.
A game I keep coming back to is Immortals Fenyx Rising. It’s got this charming take on Greek mythology with a vibrant world, and even though it’s not perfect, it’s a fresh and fun gaming experience. The combat is engaging, and I thoroughly enjoy the puzzles.
Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is a personal favorite as well. It may have some dated gameplay, but the overall experience is wonderfully enriched by Studio Ghibli’s artistry and a fantastic soundtrack. It’s a colorful journey that I can’t help but recommend.
A cult favorite of mine is the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot. Despite some rough edges, it offers thrilling gameplay and collectibles that kept me engaged. The Metroidvania-style exploration makes it more than just another action game. Definitely worth a playthrough if you enjoy adventure with a touch of tension.
I love Watch Dogs Legion. While it has its repetitive moments, the ability to recruit anyone and play as different characters was just too much fun to pass up. It might not be flawless, but it’s a cool twist on the open-world formula.
Sunset Overdrive is a highly underrated gem! Its unique and chaotic style with a blend of parkour and vibrant cartoonish aesthetics was pure fun. I never even felt the need for fast travel because moving around the world was such an exhilarating experience. If you’ve not tried it, you’re definitely missing out!
Final Fantasy Origins: Stranger of Paradise might not be everyone’s cup of tea with its 7/10 vibe, but the humorous storytelling and interesting combat mechanics make it one of my favorites in the series. Breathes some fresh air into the Final Fantasy saga!
CrossCode is a fantastic RPG that deserves more spotlight. It’s got engaging gameplay with clever puzzle mechanics and a story that hooks you in. A solid recommendation for anyone who appreciates indie gems.
