I’ve recently switched to Linux and found that my Razer Naga’s official button remapping software isn’t compatible. I’m looking for current recommendations on MMO mice that work well with Linux, especially those supported by reliable remapping tools or open-source software. I want good hardware with multiple side buttons that I can program easily on Linux. Any suggestions on models or software that support advanced customization and macros under Linux?

If you want a solid Linux-supported MMO mouse, definitely check out devices supported by Piper and libratbag. They’re open-source tools made for Linux and have solid support for many gaming mice. Logitech’s G402 and G502, while not strictly MMO mice, are supported and work great for button remapping through Piper. It’s worth browsing their supported device list to see what fits your needs.
Corsair Scimitar is a great choice if you can find the older model. It has 12 side buttons and supports macros and remapping with ckb-next on Linux. Just make sure to check which model works because newer ones might not be supported yet. The DPI switch buttons on top are also fully customizable, which is handy for gaming.
For remapping Razer mice like the Naga X, Input Remapper is a solid tool on Linux. It handles key mapping well and should cover basic to intermediate needs, especially if you don’t rely heavily on macros. I’ve used it myself with a Razer Naga Epic Chroma and it did the job without issues. It’s worth a try if you want to keep using your Razer hardware but need Linux compatibility.
That’s true, I’ve tried a random Chinese MMO mouse that wasn’t listed but it still worked fine with Piper, so sometimes even unsupported models can work just fine.
