I’m on the hunt for a new laptop and I’ve narrowed it down to four options. My main priorities are development—especially since I work a lot with Docker containers and virtualization—and I want something that can handle some gaming too. I was leaning towards the LOQ model, but I’ve heard it has motherboard issues. The TUF has been recommended, but I also learned about some overheating problems. I’m looking for something reliable that will last me a while. Any suggestions?

Honestly, both TUF and LOQ offer solid performance, so you can’t go wrong with either.
In my opinion, Gigabyte has the best specs around!
If you’re dealing with high prices in your country, checkout prices for the Legion Pro 5i in France. I ordered mine there and saved a ton—like 2,000-3,000 DT compared to local pricing. Lenovo is running some crazy sales lately, so it could be worth checking out.
Between the Gigabyte and TUF, I think either would serve you well. Just a heads up, the LOQ model with i7 13hx gets super hot, often exceeding 90°C, which puts it at risk for that motherboard issue. If you do eye a LOQ, definitely consider one with an AMD CPU for better stability. I’ve heard mixed reviews about Dell’s quality from gamers too.
Thanks for the heads-up!
I’d say lean towards the TUF. It generally comes with a 90Wh battery, a great 100% sRGB display, and it has a solid cooling system along with good structural integrity. While Gigabyte might give you a better bang for your buck, you might end up with lower build quality. The Lenovo has strong specs, but heat management is a major issue—it tends to thermal throttle a lot.
Appreciate the input!
Unfortunately, I don’t have anyone in France to help out. I’m stuck with local options.
