I’m about to build my first PC and I’m stuck deciding between two graphics cards: the RTX 5080 and the AMD 9070XT. I’ve watched tons of comparison videos at different resolutions and in various games, and it seems like the RTX 5080 pulls ahead at 1440p in many cases. I’ve heard AMD cards can struggle with ray tracing—does that really impact gaming much? I want to game at 4K 60FPS, but I’m open to lower resolutions for better frame rates. So, if price isn’t a huge factor, which card is actually the better choice, or are they so similar that I should just go for the cheaper option? I’d love to get some solid input from experienced gamers!

The RTX 5080 is generally considered the better card overall, especially when it comes to raw performance, ray tracing, and path tracing. Its DLSS upscaler works in many more games compared to AMD’s FSR, plus it has more software features like CUDA and RTX HDR. That said, there’s a significant price gap—officially the 9070XT is a $600 card while the 5080 is around $1000. Depending on your budget, you might want to look at the 5070Ti or the 5070 for a better price-to-performance match with the 9070XT. If you want to game at 4K 60FPS, you’re going to need the best GPU performance you can get!
Thanks for the insights! I’ve been eyeing both cards because they fit my budget, although the 9070XT is more comfortable while the 5080 is pushing it. I just want to make sure which card offers better performance regardless of pricing since I won’t get anything better than these two based on availability.
