I’m trying to decide between the RX 9070XT and the RX 7900XTX for gaming. The 7900XTX is currently cheaper and readily available in my area. I mainly play competitive games, but I also want to dive into titles like Elden Ring and Black Myth Wukong. Right now, I’m using a 1080p monitor, but I’m considering upgrading to a 2K monitor in the future. Can anyone help me figure out which GPU is better for my situation? Is AI frame generation a significant factor in this decision? I’ve heard that the 7900XTX has better raster performance and extra VRAM. I’ve really got a lot of questions about the AI trend in gaming and how it relates to these cards!

If you’re looking mainly at raster performance, the RX 7900XTX is indeed faster without any AI features like FSR or DLSS. However, the RX 9070XT performs better in ray tracing and path tracing scenarios. You might want to consider what matters more to you—pure rasterization and the extra 8GB of VRAM from the 7900XTX, or the ray tracing capabilities of the 9070XT. Also, AI tech can add a lot to the gaming experience if you value upscaling and ray tracing.
Honestly, I wish there were better options like a RX 9070XTX or 9080 XT! Seems like AMD is struggling to keep pace with the higher-end RTX cards. If only they could match that tech, it would be a different ball game!
True, AMD needs to step it up to compete with the RTX 90 series. It’d be awesome to see more powerful options from them!
For what it’s worth, ray tracing on the RX 9070XT is only about 10-20% better while raster performance dips around the same margin, but FSR 4 makes it pretty appealing!
