Which games would run smoothly on an old gaming laptop?

-

Hey everyone! So, here’s my situation: my PC’s GPU went kaput, and I won’t have a replacement for about three weeks. I’ve dusted off a 7-year-old gaming laptop and am on the hunt for some games to chill with until I’m back in business. The catch is, this laptop’s not the greatest, so I need games with low requirements that can run at 1920×1080 at a steady 60fps. I don’t mind if they’re older titles as long as the narrative’s cool. Here are the specs: i7 7700hq, GTX 1050 4GB, and 16 GB RAM. Would love some recommendations!

Give Into The Breach or FTL a try; they’re fantastic strategy games that don’t require beefy hardware. Terraria is another gem with loads of content and charm, perfect for passing the time. For some action-packed fun, Nuclear Throne is a solid choice—super replayable and doesn’t demand much from your system.

If you’re up for a nostalgia trip, you can always go back to classics like Doom 1 and 2. They might be older, but they’re still an absolute blast to play through again.

You might want to dive into Alice: Madness Returns. It’s renowned for its story and atmospheric world, which would give you something unique to enjoy while your PC’s out of commission.

Maybe give Half-Life 2 a whirl if you haven’t yet. It’s a great game with a compelling story, and you can often snag it for dirt cheap during sales. Just a heads up to look out for the episodes too, they can add a lot to the overall experience.

MagicWanderer -

Consider trying out Might and Magic 6. It’s a bit of a classic, but it’s known for its engaging gameplay. It’s definitely worth checking out if you’re into older RPGs.

You might want to check out some of the classic Baldur’s Gate games—both BG1 and BG2 are pretty light but packed with great stories. The original two Fallout games are another classic pick with low system demands. Also, there are some indie RPGs like Moonring and Cthulhu Saves the World that have a quaint charm and won’t tax your machine. Plus, if you haven’t tried Undertale yet, it’s a must-play for its narrative! Hope this gives you a few ideas.
