I’ve never played any Elder Scrolls games before, and I’m trying to decide between playing Oblivion remastered or jumping into Skyrim with next-gen mods. My computer specs are an i5-12450HX, an RTX 3050 with 6GB, and 16GB of RAM. What’s the best starting point for a complete newbie?

It really depends on how much you like RPGs. Skyrim is a lot more streamlined if you’re new, while Oblivion and Morrowind have some deeper mechanics like strength and speed that you can level up. All three games are awesome, though!
I personally recommend starting with Oblivion. I think the remaster is fantastic, and it gives a great introduction to the series! You’ll really enjoy it!
If you want my opinion, start with Morrowind! It sets the stage for everything else in the series.
I’d say play it in this order: Morrowind, then Oblivion, and finally Skyrim. It’s easier to appreciate how the series evolved that way. Just keep in mind, going back to an older game can be tricky due to mechanics and UI, but starting with Oblivion makes sense.
You should definitely start with the original Oblivion first—skip the remaster for now. Then you can move on to Skyrim and check out the Enderal mod later. That way, you’ll get a solid grasp of the background, races, and lore!
Honestly, the Oblivion Remaster might struggle on your system. Skyrim is probably the better choice for smoother gameplay and better performance! Oblivion’s charm is strong but might not appeal to everyone now.
Yeah, Morrowind is a classic but it might feel dated. Oblivion is more accessible for new players.
