I played Destiny 1 about 10 years ago when I had lots of free time to do raids, which were the best part of the game for me. I started playing Destiny 2 during the Episode Echoes season, but now with adult responsibilities, a wife, and a 5-month-old baby, I don’t have as much time for raids or dungeons. I’ve done the Vault of Glass (VoG) raid a few times and know its mechanics fairly well. I also understand the Sundered Doctrine dungeon and have some key exotics like Vex Mythoclast and Finality’s Augur with catalyst. I’ve attempted Vespers Host twice but still feel a bit shaky on its mechanics. Now I’m looking to explore other raids and dungeons to learn. I’m curious which ones are considered the most fun, which are easiest to start with, and which have the quickest average clear times. Also, I’ve noticed dungeons seem to take longer than raids to finish — is that just because VoG is so well known or are dungeons actually longer? I own all expansions, have the Tangled Shore dungeon key, and want to know what to try next for both enjoyable and time-efficient endgame content.

I’d say Deep Stone Crypt is a great next raid to try. Its mechanics are pretty straightforward but still require good teamwork, and it’s connected in theme to Vespers Host, so your experience there will help. Plus, the loot is pretty solid, and you can craft some top-tier gear. Older dungeons tend to have simpler mechanics, so starting with featured dungeons as they rotate is a smart move if you’re looking for something less demanding.
Just to give some perspective on time, dungeons typically take around an hour, with Sundered and Vespers being some of the longer ones. Vault of Glass is very well-known and can be cleared in about 20 minutes by experienced groups. For some easier dungeons you might enjoy, check out Prophecy and Shattered. Prophecy especially is pretty simple and considered one of the best. If you want to explore more raids, King’s Fall, Garden of Salvation, and Deep Stone Crypt are all fun and easier to pick up. I’d recommend avoiding Vow of the Disciple and Salvation Garden for now since they’re more challenging. Also, consider picking up exotics like Lord of Wolves and Queenbreaker for extra firepower—they come from Vault and can help a lot later on.
Honestly, Deep Stone Crypt is probably your best bet for the next raid to learn. It strikes a good balance between fun, challenge, and manageable time commitment. Since you’ve done VoG, this will feel fresh but not too overwhelming, and it’s well-supported by the community for learning runs.
I agree Deep Stone Crypt is a solid choice for your next raid. It’s got varied encounters and easier mechanics but still requires coordination. Root of Nightmares is another quick, basic raid but can be a bit dull if you’re not in a teaching group since some players just focus on add clearing. Garden of Salvation is short and fairly simple but can get chaotic if the group is mainly farming the Divinity bow, which might not be fun for your first runs. I’d avoid joining Divinity grind runs until you’re comfortable with the raid mechanics.
One thing to keep in mind is that content from before the Witch Queen expansion has been somewhat power-crept, meaning older dungeons are easier or almost trivial now, and raids focus more on their mechanics than raw difficulty. Since you only have the Tangled Shore dungeon key, none of the dungeons you can access should be harder than what you’ve already experienced. As for raids, besides Deep Stone Crypt, Root of Nightmares is pretty easy and fast, and King’s Fall is a longer raid with a nice mix of challenge and mechanics. These should help you build up your experience without overwhelming your limited playtime.
Thanks! Deep Stone Crypt does sound like a good fit. Glad to hear older dungeons are easier since I’ll start with those first.
