Hey everyone! I’m working on crafting a redeemed Durge for my next playthrough, and I’ve decided to make him a cleric. Before he lost his memories, he was a cleric of Bhaal but was pretending to worship another god to keep his cover. I’m not too experienced with D&D and could really use your advice on which deity might fit best for this character. He’ll be a male elf—either high or wood, but definitely not a drow. Any suggestions? Thanks a bunch! 😊

Kelemvor might be a cool choice! You can find Withers in Kelemvor’s temple early in the game, and since Withers is linked to Durge, their dynamic could be pretty interesting.
I went with Kelemvor too! My Durge has this fascination with death that really worked with his character, even before he remembered anything.
If you want more options, here’s my two cents:
– Ilmater for a redemption vibe, but not much in-game interaction.
– Eilistraee works great for a drow Durge and gives loads of dialogue options.
– Tempus relates well to war themes, though not many domains fit him.
– Tyr is about justice and undoing past evils, but again, limited domains.
– Lathander symbolizes new beginnings, and if you want to roleplay the optimism, he’s a fit but lacks some specific dialogues.
– Corellon Larethian is also a good option for any elf since he embodies numerous domains and has lore connections against Bhaal.
If you’re considering a more traditional evil path, you could make a cleric of Lolth and multiclass into a Paladin of Vengeance. That way, you’d have some fun interactions with characters like Minthara, and you’ll pack a powerful punch with smites!
Consider Tiamat if your character leans a bit towards the dark side or has an aggressive streak. It gives a nice ‘pretending to be Bhaal’ feel. Alternatively, Selûne could work too, giving him a way to hide in plain sight during act 2!
