I’m looking to build a proper PC for my partner since his gaming laptop just died, and his birthday is coming up. He mainly plays Sims 3 and 4, which are pretty CPU-intensive, especially with mods. I noticed that there’s about a $50 price difference between the Ryzen 9 7900X and the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, with the 7800X3D being the pricier option. I’m pairing either one with an RX 7600 XT (16GB), so I expect decent performance, but I’m torn on whether that extra $50 for the 7800X3D is worth it. Any thoughts?

The Ryzen 7 7800X3D is definitely going to give you better gaming performance. The X3D chips have more L3 cache, which really helps in gaming scenarios. If your partner’s solely focused on gaming, I’d lean towards the 7800X3D.
