I’m a returning player who’s been focusing on classic but I’m ready to give retail another try after quite a break. The last time I played was during BFA, and now I’m looking for recommendations on what class to pick. My plan is to mainly engage in solo content and LFR raids—nothing too hardcore. I want a class that has an enjoyable rotation and excels in solo play. Delves sound exciting, and I’m interested in trying them out along with some low to mid-level Mythic+ dungeons. I’m open to DPS, tank, or healing roles; the key for me is that it should be fun to play, regardless of whether it’s a top DPS or tank spec.

Honestly, you can’t go wrong with Warriors. They’re just fun no matter what spec you choose, and they have good survivability and movement abilities that work well in various content. Prot can be particularly nice for delves, especially if you make Brann your healer.
Pet classes are also great for solo play! Any class with a tank spec like a lock or hunter will serve you well in those solo adventures.
I think a Destruction Warlock would be a solid choice! It’s easy to level and has a rotation that’s both simple and engaging, which makes it quite fun for solo play too.
I’ve been having a blast with Holy Paladin! If you grab a strength 2-hander and set up some ret talents, you’ll be doing great in solo content. Plus, HPals just got a nice buff, so it’s a good time to jump in!
One thing to keep in mind is that everyone will recommend their main class, which means you might get a ton of different suggestions. Classes often feel more fun at endgame, so it might take some time finding the right fit. I leveled a few to 80 and ended up enjoying Frost Mage the most. If you don’t want to go through the hassle of leveling multiple characters, checking out some endgame videos on YouTube can help you see what classes look fun to you.
I highly recommend trying out Survival Hunter! It’s super enjoyable, has great survivability and utility, plus you can still pull decent DPS even if it’s not at the top of raid rankings.
