I am in the earth temple. I have obtained the bomb bag after killing the two lizards. I used the bomb to get across the bridge at the other side and I was able to obtain the dungeon map. Now I am back where I started in the room with the eye ball floating in the lava and I don’t know where to go.

Now that you have the dungeon map, have a good look at the room that you are in. You will see that there is a red X marked on one of the walls in this room. Use the ball to make your way over to it.
Even when you get there, it can be tricky to see. But if you throw a bomb at the weak part of the wall, it will cause it to crack. Throw another and your way forward will be clear.
