Hey fellow Helldivers, I’ve got a bit of a puzzler for you. It’s probably a bit silly, but I’m trying to figure out when exactly I need to press the sprint button again after it gets interrupted. Sometimes I’ll be sprinting, then I aim or fire my weapon, and it seems to auto-sprint back for me. Yet, other times, I find I need to manually start sprinting again after doing certain actions. This confusion has led to some frustrating moments (and a few deaths), so any insights on how this sprinting mechanic works would be super helpful!

It sounds like this could be one of those quirks of the game. I get what you’re saying—sometimes the controls just don’t feel responsive. I’ve noticed that when I panic and start mashing buttons, it makes things even worse! But yeah, it might just be a matter of how you’re hitting the buttons. Maybe the game requires a bit of button mashing before it responds?
I’m with you on that, I have to practically scream at my controller sometimes just to get it to respond!
I use the ‘HOLD’ setting for sprinting too. It really smooths out the whole process for me, especially when you’re switching between actions like reloading or diving. It eliminates the need for precise timing and just makes everything flow better!
Thanks for sharing, man! I think I might switch my settings after reading your suggestion.
I’ve got my sprint set to ‘hold’ and it seems to work fine that way. I just keep holding it down after I let go and it kicks back in. Could it be that you’re running low on stamina? If that’s the case, hold-sprinting won’t activate until you’re replenished a bit.
First thing to do is check your control settings! If you’re on PS5 and pressing L3 to sprint, maybe try switching to the ‘hold’ option. It could save you from the manual trigger every time as soon as you stop other actions.
What settings should I check exactly? I am kinda new to this, but if holding L3 is better, I’m down to try it!
Totally! I’m on PS5 too and I can confirm that sometimes the controls feel all over the place, especially when you need to make a quick getaway.
