When Do You Think the Game Will Go Gold?

I’m guessing it’ll go gold in the next few weeks. They’ll probably drop a day one patch on release, like usual. But I agree, an earlier release just isn’t in the cards, especially for Ubisoft—they need this one to be polished after last year’s backlash.

I feel like the whole “going gold” announcement has lost its significance these days. Developers are often still working on a game even after it hits gold status. Just look at the Cyberpunk situation—it went gold and still had major issues at launch. Plus, given the recent public delays, I wouldn’t expect them to rush anything out earlier than planned, especially with reports suggesting they’re trying to take their time for polishing.

I don’t see them releasing earlier either. They’re under pressure to fix issues and improve the game before launch. Another delay seems unlikely now since they’d lose a lot of money.

I think a gold announcement will likely come around the 20th of February—typically a month before launch, right? But I guess it really depends on how aligned they are with their internal timelines.

You know, going gold traditionally means a game is ready for mass production, but lately, it’s just become a formality. They usually still work on things like day one patches up until release. I’ve seen it happen where we went through multiple certifications just to fix last-minute issues. I’d assume they’re past that already and just focused on making final tweaks now.

Honestly, after Cyberpunk, I just care about hitting the release date. As long as the game delivers when it drops, I’ll be happy. I wouldn’t be shocked if they announced another delay though, just to get it right.
