I’ve been diving into blacksmithing in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and it’s been a real struggle. There are tons of guides claiming to explain how to achieve maximum quality, but honestly, they seem off the mark. I’ve maxed out my craftsmanship at 30, yet I can’t seem to get consistent results in the smithy. Sometimes a strike that should produce sparks just makes a dull ‘thunk’. And serious question: how do I know when the blade is about to burn? There’s barely any leeway—one moment I’m doing fine, the next it’s ‘cocked up’ out of nowhere. Also, does the whistling thing even matter? I have the perk to craft level four weapons, but hitting that mark consistently feels nearly impossible. Is it just bad luck? Can someone provide some real advice, without the typical ‘trust me’ nonsense?

Hey there! Just to clarify, there’s currently a bug where crafted items might show level 3, but if you check your inventory, they could actually be level 4. So don’t stress too much about what the pop-up says! Just ensure you’re hitting the right items that really can reach level 4. Maybe focus on the sword you’re trying to make and check if it’s a level 3 limit for that specific item.
It’s not all RNG, but you can’t afford too many mistakes. When hammering, aim close to your last hit and make sure to turn the blade. If your character’s vitality is high, you won’t need to lift the hammer fully, which saves time! For heating, listen for those ‘pressure sounds’—it usually takes about five to make sure a part of the blade is fully heated. Count to four before switching areas!
Here’s a tip: bring the metal to straw color—when it’s at its brightest, take it out. When hammering, make sure each hit is right next to the last one with consistent strength. If you keep your pace, Henry will continue whistling, which is key. It’s honestly easier than alchemy. If you’re still stuck, try the tutorial with Radovan at Troskovitz and just keep practicing!
